The finding

On our research record of November 3, 2026, Cardano reads C / Speculative at 51.8 and holds position 30.

The score is the interesting part, because it has not moved. Our record carried 51.8 for ADA on October 27, October 28, October 30, October 31, November 2 and November 3, 2026: six separately dated readings, same number every time. Before that stretch it read 52.2, going back to October 17.

The position moved anyway. On our November 2 record Cardano held position 28. On November 3 it holds position 30, with the score unchanged at 51.8.

That is worth sitting with for a second, because it is the single most misread thing about any ranked list.

Why the position moved, in full

Our November 3 change record says nothing happened to Cardano. Two other assets rose past it:

  • Gnosis moved from position 37 to position 20.

  • Algorand, which held no ranked position on our November 2 record, came in at position 24.

Two assets crossing above you, and your own number untouched, is a two place slip. 28 plus 2 is 30. That is the entire explanation, and our record attributes nothing in it to Cardano.

This is why we publish the score next to the position and treat the score as the thing to watch. A position is a statement about everyone else as much as about the asset. A score is a statement about the asset.

The six inputs behind 51.8

Our model scores every asset it rates on the same six dimensions, each from 0 to 5, each carrying a published weight. Here is Cardano's November 3, 2026 reading in full, with what each input contributes to the composite and what it leaves on the table:

The arithmetic is weight multiplied by score divided by 5, and you can run it yourself. Nothing is hidden in a black box between the inputs and the letter.

Where the missing 48 points actually are

Read the right hand column rather than the middle one, because that is the column that explains the letter.

On-chain Usage and Economics gives up 15.84 points, more than any other input, and nearly a third of everything Cardano does not score. It is our model's lowest reading on this asset at 1.4 out of 5, and it carries the second heaviest weight in the framework. Our model's own rationale for that score reads:

❝

"On-chain activity is weak: TVL is about $53.0M and 30-day DeFi fees are about $329.8k, while the live usage candidate is low. Developer activity is mixed, but the economic usage signals remain subdued and do not support a higher score."

Security, Decentralization and Durability is the high mark at 4.0 out of 5, and it is the only input where Cardano leaves almost nothing behind: 14.4 of a possible 18. Our model's rationale:

❝

"The supplied record shows an established reference client with recent releases and active development, but it does not evidence the strongest criteria such as multiple independent clients, a bug bounty, or a full set of audits and timelock details. That supports a strong but not top score."

Tokenomics and Value Accrual, the heaviest input in the framework at 28, reads 3.0 and gives up 11.2 points, which is the second largest shortfall purely because the weight is so large. Our model's rationale:

❝

"Circulating supply is 37.58B of 45B max (83.5% float), FDV is 1.20x market cap, and no near-term unlock data was supplied. No evidence of fee burn or staking value accrual in the record, so the score stays at a mid-tier level rather than higher."

Ecosystem and Moat and Relative Valuation both read 2.0 and each gives up 7.2 points. On the first, our model says the evidence "does not show a strong competitive moat or durable leadership versus major smart-contract rivals, and the low usage profile suggests limited switching costs." On the second, it says market cap is "about $7.04B and FDV about $8.43B, but no peer ratio set was supplied for full relative comparison," which "supports only a cautious, not clearly cheap, valuation read."

Market Structure reads 3.0. Our model records that the supplied snapshot "lacks the required 14d/28d return, realized-volatility, drawdown, depth, funding, OI, and 200DMA evidence needed for a stronger or weaker market-structure call," and so supports "a mixed risk read."

What our model says the whole thing adds up to

The standing assessment our record publishes for Cardano, in its own words:

❝

"Our model rates Cardano as a middling risk-adjusted setup: supply structure is reasonably mature, while on-chain economic activity remains weak and does not justify a stronger usage score. Security and ecosystem quality look established but not dominant. The main risk is continued low fee generation and limited competitive moat; a materially stronger usage profile or a clearer peer-relative moat would improve the read."

Our record also carries one named risk factor on this asset, flagged at downgrade severity: sustained decline in users and fees, described as active addresses and fees having "drifted lower over consecutive re-scores."

That is a useful thing to hold next to a flat score. A score standing still is not the same as nothing moving underneath it.

What C means in our model

C is our Speculative tier. It is not a pass and it is not a failure, and it is not a comment on anyone's portfolio. Our model's impersonal, grade-level position cap for a C-grade asset read 2 to 3 percent maximum on our November 3, 2026 record.

That figure is what our model says about a grade, applied the same way to every asset that carries that grade. It is not sized to you, your holdings, your goals or your risk tolerance, and it is not advice about your situation. Everyone reading this sees the same number.

What would change this read

Our model has told you, in the standing assessment above, what it is waiting for: a materially stronger usage profile, or a clearer peer-relative moat. The weights tell you what either would be worth. On-chain Usage and Economics carries 22 points, and Cardano currently banks 6.16 of them. Ecosystem and Moat carries 12, and Cardano banks 4.8.

So the question to ask about ADA from here is not whether the position recovers two places. It is whether the fee and usage evidence our model reads starts to look different.

Where to look

Cardano's full research record, with the current grade, score, position and dimension scores, is at cryptograde.ai/tokens/cardano. The published weights and what each dimension measures are on our framework page.

If you want to be told when our grade on an asset you hold changes, rather than finding out weeks later, that is what CryptoGrade Alerts is for. It is free with a free CryptoGrade account. Cardano is a good argument for it: the letter has sat at C through this entire stretch while the position moved underneath it, and a letter change is the event worth hearing about.
